MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION Being a member of the LSFA has many advantages. Membership includes the following:
CONVENTION: The annual LSFA convention provides members with education, seminars, hands-on design techniques, design competitions, an annual meeting and a chance to meet with other florist member and share ideas. The conventionis held each year in July and is the highlight of our association.
EDUCATION: LSFA provides information to our members on classes that will assist them in obtaining their license or furthering their skills as a florist. Basic classes are taught throughtout the state as well as in Texas which help prepare anyone who is interested in becoming a licensed florist.
LOUISIANA MASTER FLORIST PROGRAM: This program is for those members who have had 5 or more years experience in a retail setting and who are looking to add the credentials of "Master Florist" to their achievements. The program is modeled from the Texas Master Florist Program and is taught yearly in Louisiana.
LEGISLATION: The LSFA works closely with the Louisiana Horticulture Commission to ensure that your rights as a florist are being met. The LA Horticulture Commission keeps the LSFA members informed and up to date on current issues through its board members.
LSFA WEBSITE: The LSFA website at lsfaonline.com promotes its members through the florist member directory. Members can search other cities for contact information on other florsits who are members of LSFA. The website also provides educational information as well as employment and classified listings.
NEWSLETTER: The LSFA newsletter is published quarterly with information on upcoming events in the floral industry. It also provides helpful articles on ways to promote and grow a business in the floral industry. The second quarter letter provides information on the upcoming convention in July. IC SYSTEM: The association-sponsored collection service for florists, I.C. System, is a collection service that is ethical, efficient and effective.
